It was a sincere pleasure and honor to have the opportunity to present to you the work and mission of the IJIS Institute on September 22, 2010, at Microsoft in Reston, VA, and to invite you into membership. The results of our work at the Institute is evidence of the fact that a public/private partnership really does work and truly accomplishes great things (NIEM, N-DEx, to name a few high profile results). We continue to make tremendous headway thanks to the active participation of our Members such as Microsoft, Datamaxx, The Omega Group, Total Computer Group and Hewlett Packard. Today we are over 300 members strong.

The heart of the IJIS Institute mission is to help make our country and communities safer through information sharing. We are the only national organization, created by the Justice Department, that brings together industry and government in an effort to improve national security and promote effective information sharing across all levels of the justice, public safety, and homeland security communities. The IJIS Institute has made tremendous headway in its collaborative approach with government and private industry as we work together to solve this national issue. Any company providing solutions to the public safety, justice and homeland security marketplace is encouraged to join and participate at the IJIS Institute.

Very recently, Microsoft upgraded to become one of our premiere Sustaining Members. This is an elite class of membership at the IJIS Institute and provides companies a more significant and tangible way in which to support the Institute and its programs. In addition to significant financial support, Sustaining Members lend expertise and partner with the IJIS Institute in special projects that further the mission of the Institute and promote information sharing successes. Microsoft has stepped up to this level of commitment because they see a truly meaningful opportunity for leadership in the JPS industry.
